Congregational History

The Harding Street church of Christ was formed on April 5, 1975 with only the Minister, James H. Lawrence, and his wife Beatrice Lawrence (see Photo 1). They acquired the rental of the old drug store across the street to hold worship services. Then came the Minister's niece, Ella Smiley and family. Also there were visiting brethren from other congregations to assist in conducting worship services and support financially. After a few months Brother Leslie R. Jackson came in and began working in the worship services and remained faithful for many years until he passed away in 2004.
